Discover My Curated Collection of Paints and Textures: A Handy Resource for Designers
In this latest video script, the creator shares a growing but currently modest collection of materials, textures, paints, and more—perfect for designers and woodworkers looking to reference colors and finishes in their projects. So far, there are three key collections available, accessible via a subscription link that leads to a dedicated page.
The Collections at a Glance
- RAL Collection: A standard set of colors with names, images, and previews.
- Paint Paper Collection: Focused on painted finishes and papers, complete with visual swatches.
- Farrow & Ball Collection: Premium paint options, similarly organized for easy browsing.
Each collection features a searchable list of items, including color names, images, and shades. A handy search bar lets you filter quickly—for example, type "blue" to pull up all blue-toned options, or "red" for reds. This is especially useful when clients or designers specify quirky names that don't always match intuitive color descriptions.
How to Use and Customize It
The creator explains his workflow: When collaborating with designers who request specific paints (e.g., "paint this in that color"), he pulls from these libraries to accurately represent them in drawings. To make it your own:
- Sign up for Coda (a versatile tool for building libraries, databases, references, and even websites—used daily by the creator for team communication and personal organization).
- Click the "Copy Document" button at the top to duplicate the entire library for your use.
- Explore individual pages, where links to original sources (e.g., company websites) are provided for deeper reference.
- Click on items to view, screenshot, or download colors, textures, and images.
Note: These collections were created about 1-2 years ago and aren't regularly updated, but they remain functional and effective for quick lookups.
What's Coming Next
The library is set to expand! Look forward to additions like wood textures, laminates, stone, and timber. A new placeholder page is already in place, ready for these updates.
