Mastering the Multi-One Component: Streamline Your Design Multiplication

In this tutorial, we dive into the "Multi-One" component from the vertical category—a powerful tool for quickly duplicating elements like doors, drawer fronts, or decorative panels across X, Y, or Z planes. Whether you're building cabinetry, furniture, or even tiled walls, this feature saves time by handling replication and precise gap control.

Key Features and Controls

  • Multiplication Capabilities: Easily scale from one element to multiple (e.g., 2-4 doors horizontally or drawer fronts vertically).
  • Gap Management: Adjust gaps on all sides—left, right, vertical, bottom, horizontal, and top—for custom fits, like adding space for handles.
  • Core Drivers:
    • Panel thickness.
    • Position (Y-axis: front-to-back).
    • Shift and grain direction.
    • Horizontal and vertical quantities.

These parameters ensure uniform sizing while allowing real-time tweaks.

Practical Demo: Drawer Fronts in Action

Start by inserting the Multi-One into your assembly (e.g., for internal drawers):

  • Set thickness to 18mm, position front-to-front (0 offset), and grind direction horizontal.
  • Vertical quantity: 3; gaps: 3mm all around.
  • Result: Three evenly spaced drawer fronts.

Need changes? Bump the top gap to 25mm for a larger handle space—it auto-adjusts while keeping faces proportional. Shift the entire set in/out for design flexibility.

For varied sizes (e.g., top drawer at 100mm, splitting the rest):

  • Insert, set gaps, and fix the top length.
  • Copy into spaces, reference bottoms, and adjust quantities (e.g., vertical: 2).
  • Control everything from the drawing view for instant visual feedback—measure gaps, align with other elements.

Beyond Basics: Creative Applications

  • Complex Designs: Use for ornate deco panels or fronts with moldings, rebates, or holes. Convert to blocks, assign layers, and filter for drawings.
  • Non-Functional Elements: Represent tiles or walls by multiplying panels (add horizontal quantity for grids). No need to sketch individually—assign materials and done!
  • Versatility: Applies to doors, boxes, or any design element. Hide non-working parts for clean outputs.

This approach boosts efficiency: Tweak one instance, copy across spaces, and iterate in real-time.
